About Doyle Heffley

Doyle Heffley believes that there is a more affordable way for the government of this commonwealth to conduct their business. Doyle offers a wide range of experiences that will definitely be an asset to this position.

He is currently employed by TankStar USA, Inc. as the Northeast Region’s Manager of Operational Staffing in the area of Human Resources which exposes him to issues that affect the company’s employees daily. One major concern is the tolling of Route 80.

Heffley said, “This will have a major impact on industry in this state if tolling is done on this interstate. With gas and diesel prices soaring, this could be an additional $300 impact on an interstate truck driver at a time when it is getting difficult to make ends meet. The state would lead the taxpayers to believe that we can absorb it as if it is the only fee. Most people are not aware of the other fees we already pay. For example, every truck on Pennsylvania’s highways is paying a usage fee that other drivers do not have to worry about. By adding a toll to I-80, it will discourage trucks from using it and instead drive them to alternative routes such as Route 22 and I-78 both of which are incapable of handling such increases in volume.” He previously worked as a Terminal Manager for FT Silfies Trucking Co.

Heffley was an Eagle Scout which has taught him to have a deep appreciation for his state and country and is willing to serve as representative to change the commonwealth for the better. “I want to work for the people of the commonwealth and not over them,” he said.

Doyle is the son of Larry and Roberta Heffley of Lehighton. He is a 1989 graduate of Lehighton High School and has an Associates degree in Architectural Drafting and Design from Lincoln Technical Institute where he graduated in 1991. “I believe education is an important cornerstone of society and we need to make sure that our schools receive the help they need, but not at the taxpayer’s expense. Instead I want to reprioritize where our money goes in Harrisburg, and direct it where it should go. I can’t do it alone, but I believe it’s time to reform the process.”

Heffley cited several areas besides education that need to be reformed. “This state is providing welfare to illegal immigrants; our fuel taxes are going to SEPTA instead of staying in the counties where they are collected and needed. We are being used to prop up a system that can’t support itself. We were talked into accepting gambling to ‘reduce property taxes’ and where does the bulk of the money go? It goes to fund sports complexes and arenas that most of us can’t afford to buy tickets for. The system is broken and it needs to change. One of the biggest changes that I will fight for are the elimination of so-called ‘walking around money’ and I will listen to the people and not the lobbyists who pollute Harrisburg and corrupt our legislature

Heffley has a strong faith and attends Jerusalem Lutheran Church with his family. He believes in basic family values and supports the freedoms guaranteed in our Constitution. “I believe in the right to own firearms and that every life is sacred. We have a right to live freely and not be burdened by bureaucratic government. I will do my best to follow through on these core tenets if the people have faith in me in November and support me. I plan to work for them and for the values on which this nation was founded.”

Heffley has served as a committeeman and is the current Chairman of the Carbon County Republican party. “I got involved because I care about what’s happening in my community,” he said. He first participated as a volunteer in local elections before taking the leadership role.

He is also an avid sportsman and athlete, and was a letterman his senior year in football at Lehighton. He also was a competitive power lifter when he was a teenager. Currently he likes auto racing and football. He is also an outdoorsman who enjoys camping and hunting. “Pennsylvania is such a beautiful state with great natural resources. I want to preserve and protect them for our children and their children’s benefit too.”

“I love Carbon and Monroe counties with their picturesque mountains and clean air. I have always wanted to raise my family here, but the rising cost of everything has made it a struggle for all of us. We have to leave the area to work; there are not enough jobs in this local area to keep our workers employed. Our state government doesn’t facilitate business, it over-regulates and chokes it. They keep increasing taxes instead of increasing jobs. They penalize business and force our young people to leave the state in order to find decent work. The state lawmakers are more concerned with bowing to lobbyists instead of really helping the taxpayers. They disregard our Constitution and hold illegal meetings, make midnight decisions and instead of supporting the laws of this Commonwealth, they hold themselves above the laws. This is OUR state and we the people need to take it back--we cannot be bought and sold. Our lawmakers need to learn to live within their means and curb spending, not dream up new tolls, taxes and salary increases to use up the budget. That money needs to go to education and our roads and not their pockets and special interest grants.”

Heffley is married to the former Kellie Silfies and they reside in Palmerton with their two daughters.

His final thought is, “There is no substitute for hard work. Treat people with respect and honesty, and always remain true to your convictions. These are the values I will carry with me to Harrisburg.”
